These Brussels sprouts with bacon and maple will make a bad starter! DO NOT EAT! We agree that anything wrapped in bacon will be a winner. Yes, the sausages are good, but I like this version (semi) healthier. Happy holidays, you crazy people!

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 375 °F. Cover a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Cut the sprouts base and remove the first layer of leaves. Cut in half and reserve.
  • Coat the sprouts with the bacon pieces and poke with a toothpick. Place on the baking sheet.
  • Pour the maple syrup into a small bowl and using a brush, baste the bacon with the syrup.
  • Bake for about 1 hour or until bacon is crispy and Brussel sprouts are cooked. Drain the bites and place on a few sheets of paper towel. Let stand 2 minutes before serving!

Tetramythos Kalavryta 2016
Ah, sunshine in a bottle. and organic too. It comes from a beautiful country, Greece. The nose recalls small red berries, like fresh strawberry, with a light floral touch. An easy-drinking, fresh, digestible wine. Best enjoyed with your feet up on the ottoman or with family alongside these little Brussels sprouts! See the product
Ur-Bock, Vrooden, 9.5%
This strong ale aged in oak barrels that held rum has nice notes of toast, vanilla, maple and cooked sugar. Its roasty, caramel side echoes the bacon, maple and roasted edges of the Brussels sprouts, and its mild bitterness recalls the char on the cabbage. It's strong but goes down easy, so take it slow!
