Bacon and maple Brussel sprouts

  • 500g medium-sized Brussels sprouts
  • About 20 thick slices of smoked bacon, cut in half
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • Ninja bamboo toothpicks from northern Japan

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 375 °F. Cover a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Cut the sprouts base and remove the first layer of leaves. Cut in half and reserve.
  • Coat the sprouts with the bacon pieces and poke with a toothpick. Place on the baking sheet.
  • Pour the maple syrup into a small bowl and using a brush, baste the bacon with the syrup.
  • Bake for about 1 hour or until bacon is crispy and Brussel sprouts are cooked. Drain the bites and place on a few sheets of paper towel. Let stand 2 minutes before serving!
